Large numbers of people gathered in Sherard Hall in Court Road ,Eltham to see what was on offer to them in the short and long term. The event attracted so many people that a call to the Town Hall brought more staff to cope with the demand. Councillor Steve Offord and myself were on hand to meet and greet.
While the bedroom tax is not a burden on older people, they still worry about their housing situation. Proposals to develop Mabel Polley House in Woolwich Common attracted a lot of interest. Two million pounds is being spent to bring this building up to a high standard.
Those attending the event were keen to downsize their properties. They need no pressure put on them but was seen as the right thing to do to meet their needs in later life. Problem is, at this point, that demand exceeds supply. There is much more to do.
